This lot is for a NICE U.S. NAVY SHIP coin that was struck from ACTUAL Copper spikes removed from the First US NAVY ship ever made  -  The USS FRIGATE Constellation that was built back in 1797 (inv. lot #5).  This coin is made FROM the original spikes used in 1797 to build this ship.  This historic ship was restored a few decades ago to keep her in tact & to make sure this amazing giant piece of history will always be around.   It is docked in Baltimore Harbor & you can board her & see up close & personal a superb example of Military History.  They removed the original copper spikes from 1797 to strike these coins & retro fitted her so she'll be around for decades to come.  AWESOME picture of the Clipper Ship struck on front.   This is a very nice coin that has sharp bold details.  Its very high end & has good looking red copper color with touch of patina & it has very nice eye appeal.  OUTSTANDING details with all the sails full shown on front- it looks just like it should if she was on the open sea & had her sails full of wind.  Beautiful engraving showing great details down to the Cannon port holes on the side of the Ship.  This is a excellent example of the craftsmanship of an artist with great talent.   Last I checked this ship is still in Baltimore Harbor docked as a historical museum & tours are available.  In the past if you showed this coin you'd get free admission - don't know if that still holds true.  Super nice conversation piece & a very interesting well made coin.   Coin is about the size of a US Half Dollar,
this is NOT a stock photo
, you get the actual coin shown in photo's.
