    An original printed and manuscript completed deed from Chatham, Connecticut, dated December 21, 1770, and signed twice by DAVID SAGE, once as a witness, and once as a Justice of the Peace. ....A David Sage of Chatham is listed as a Sergeant in a group of New England soldiers who marched through the wilderness of Maine from Portsmouth, New Hampshire, in the Winter of 1775 under Benedict Arnold, to assault the British fortress at Quebec at the beginning of the Revolutionary War. The expedition failed, Arnold was wounded and many were taken prisoner including David Sage.
