    Description

RELIC 18TH CENTURY FR & INDIAN WAR TO REV WAR SKINNING KNIFE, JIM DRESSLER COLLECTION
Several years ago I obtained at auction a grouping of relic knives that had been part of Author and major early Americana collector James Dressler.  Mr. Dressler is the author of the beautifully illustrated book, "the Engraved Powder Horn".
The relic knife blade is 8 1/2" log and 1" wide.  As a relic knife it is fragile as the blade is thin but it is still sound as a relic blade.  Given its mid to late 18th century age, it fits well in the period of the French and Indian War to the American Revolution.  As a skinning knife blade, this could have two uses; civilian and military.  For civilian use this knife could be used by a hunter, and also used by a frontier family that hunted, skinned and then cooked their own food.  As a tool for military use, this skinning knife would have been used by a butcher in a camp setting and as a sharpened blade when first used, could also have been used as a weapon in hand to hand fighting.  The blade is clearly marked Dressler collection and number 40 probably a collection inventory number.
30 day return guarantee as long as the skinning knife blade is returned in the same condition as sent.  Mailing cost includes insurance and is based on domestic mailing.  As this relic blade is quite thin and as a relic would break rather than be an effective weapon, this also is available for international purchase where usually knife blade shipment would be prohibited under Ebay international shipment guidelines.
This will make a nice addition to several types of collections: early Americana; French and Indian War artifacts; and American Revolution artifacts.
