    Description

    Offered in this 7-day auction is a c.1770-1800 Pierced Tin Lantern.  Always a favorite for Colonial displays, the punched designs cast playful light in a room, but the heavy tin body protected a room from spark and thus fires.  The center platform holds a single, taper candle.  The forged iron hook allows for hanging.  All original parts to include the door and clasp.  You can hang it and still use it as desired!  A good picture reference of these lantern is found in George C.
