Description
Very Rare Flow Blue Polychrome Ironstone Platter by William Adams & Sons, Stoke Upon Trent (Staffordshire), England – c. 1829-1863. Pattern Name Unfortunately Unknown.This very colorful Platter is profusely decorated with a Floral Oriental-Style Scene in the Center surrounded by 4 Floral Cartouches. The Hand-Painted Flowers, Leaves and Branches are in Red, Rose, Greens, Mustard Yellow Coloring with Cobalt Blue underglaze highlighting. Interesting geometric-style inner border of a string of small Flowers.
Overall, the craftmanship of the Hand-Painting is superb!
The Platter is in excellent condition and looks like it was never used. There are no chips, cracks or crazing and virtually no wear to its Polychrome coloring - just a couple of tiny 1/16
th
flakes to the mustard yellow along the top (see photo). Measures 9 7/8” in length.
